Looking after your Silverette® nursing cups is quick and easy. In this guide, we show you how to clean your cups day to day, and how to bring back their shine when the silver naturally tarnishes over time.
How to Clean Your Silverette® Cups
A quick rinse with warm water between feeds is all your Silverette® cups need day to day.
- After each use, rinse the cups with warm water.
- Pat dry with a soft, clean cloth.
- If you like, you can occasionally wash them with a mild, gentle hand soap, although this isn't required.
How to Remove Tarnish
Over time, your cups will naturally tarnish. This is a normal oxidisation process that happens to all genuine silver, and it doesn't affect how your cups work.
- Mix one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda with a few drops of water to make a paste.
- Rub the paste gently over the cups.
- Rinse well and pat dry.
The Silverette® Cleaning Kit includes everything you need.
What to Avoid
To protect your cups, don't use:
- harsh detergents
- bleach-based cleaners
- sterilising tablets
- hard scourers

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it normal for silver nursing cups to change colour?
Yes. 925 silver naturally tarnishes over time from humidity and body oils. It doesn't affect how your cups work.
How often should I clean my Silverette® cups?
Rinse your cups with warm water after each use and pat them dry. Use the Cleaning Kit whenever you notice tarnish building up.
Do I need to sterilise my Silverette® cups?
No. A rinse with warm water between feeds is enough. Avoid sterilising tablets, bleach and harsh detergents, as they can damage the silver.
Can I use other silver cleaners?
We recommend the Silverette® Cleaning Kit, which is designed specifically for your cups.
